Folk Tails: The Hungry Bear – Contemplation

Hi bees, I see you’ve busy been
While I was sleeping in my den
It seems a shame to tear apart
A hive that’s like a work of art

And yet my empty tummy’s fussin’
Near to drown your buzzy cussin’
So should I raid, or should I not
It seems there’s something I forgot

Nature’s neither foul nor fair
Bees work, bears sleep in winter lair
A honey pot is what bears crave
When hungry crawling from their cave

All creatures do what creatures must
And if that means your hive goes bust?
Well, I’m a bear…
So there!

After having produced the Treasures of the Earth raven duo, I was still into the fun of decorative borders and wished to paint something totally whimsical. The result – the Folk Tails trilogy. The Hungry Bear – Contemplation is the first painting of the three.

I can imagine these paintings as the inspiration for one very delightful nursery. Though I like to think that anyone who has never surrendered their childhood sense of wonder may also smile at their sweetness.
