Snug within her scarlet dress
Her head ‘gainst snowy pillow pressed
While nearby violet pokes a nose
Through winter’s crust to purple-pose

The Vixen is the second painting in the Folk Tails trilogy. I chose a vixen as the subject in honor of the foxes both red and gray who sometimes choose to visit at the back door of my studio.
